Creating donuts that look as good as they taste is the challenge posed by the newest season of DIVA’s “Donut Showdown,” a food competition airing on SKYcable that pits bakers against each other to make attractive and mouthwatering donuts.
In each episode, viewers witness how three bakers stretch the limits of their imagination to add a surprising ingredient in their recipe to create delectable and eye-catching donuts – all in the name of taking home the $10,000 prize.
Of the current crop of cooking shows on TV today, “Donut Showdown” takes a quirky approach as the show revolves around an iconic and favorite pastry. Not limited to sweets, ingredients can include the most unlikely and savory flavors.
Contestants also have to come up with recipes such as fried chicken skin donuts with maple glaze, root beer float donut, vegan coconut donuts, and sriracha peanut butter donuts – all worthy of any foodie’s Instagram feed.
But just like other TV food competitions, creativity and skills are put to the test as contestants bake under pressure and make donuts based on a theme chosen for them by a panel of judges.
