When Marvel Studios unleaded the climactic “Avengers: Endgame” in world cinemas last April, one of their secondary objectives was to see its box office performance eventually exceed the all-time earnings of James Cameron’s “Avatar” from 20th Century Fox, now a fellow subsidiary of Marvel’s under Disney. As the weeks passed that goal has come ever closer to reality that Disney-Marvel decided to take some extra insurance. They announced a rerelease of “Endgame” with the bonus promise of added scenes, the better to lure back those who have already watched. Now that official details of the “return” are out, some audiences suddenly find themselves wanting more.

The Hollywood Reporter tells us that Marvel Studios has released details on what they are now describing as a “Bring Back” event for “Avengers: Endgame.” That climactic installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has by this time approached the end of its theatrical run, and would have its cinematic life extended by a rerelease under the auspices of Disney-Marvel. But what the new screening has to offer in terms of added content has got some fans scratching their heads, because it does not quite sound like the extended cut they were expecting from the studio.

Marvel’s word is that “Endgame” will be shown in its “original” cut before the streamlining necessary before it was premiered the first time. But the anticipated cuts are small ones, while the bulk of the extras include only an introductory video featuring one of the directors, Anthony Russo. The other segment is indeed a deleted scene, but one that has not been finished filming and will instead apparently be shown separate from the main movie itself. The last addition is a sneak preview of the follow-up film and true conclusion to the MCU Phase 3 arc: “Spider-Man: Far from Home.”

As if realizing that some moviegoers might be disappointed at the level of additions for the “Avengers: Endgame” rerelease, Marvel is also providing participating theaters with one notable piece of tie-in merchandise. Said item is…a special edition Marvel Studios poster featuring Tony Stark’s Infinity Stone-compatible Iron Man gauntlet with all stones in place and Tony’s last prominent catchphrase “Love You 3,000.” And stocks of these special posters are limited, meaning not all moviegoers will get one during the rerelease period.

Stateside tickets for the “Endgame” Brick Back event are now available ahead of the rerelease this coming Friday, June 28. At present the movie has already surpassed the box office record of “Avatar” for its initial cinematic run, but is still short of the all-time value that is $2.8 billion.
