In 2017, Viva Films released a romantic film directed by Jason Paul Laxamana and starring JC Santos and Bela Padilla. “100 Tula Para Kay Stella” takes the tired and tested plot of a boy and a girl with contrasting personalities meeting and falling in love despite how their differences should have sunk any chance of them becoming an item. Fresh concepts such as making the honor-student guy suffer a speech impediment, forcing him to express his feelings through poetry he is too shy to read to the girl, helped elevate the movie to a good box office performance during the 2017 Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino.

And according to CNN Philippines the story of these two young lovers is not yet over. Bela Padilla and JC Santos will be reprising their respective roles as aspiring rocker Stella and tongue-tied psychologist-poet Fidel in “100 Tula Para Kay Stella 2.” The sequel was officially announced by original director Jason Paul Laxamana on his official Twitter page back in Tuesday, January 28. Said tweet showcased Laxamana standing next to a promotional poster of the sequel film. He did not however give any further details on the follow-up, such as when it will reach cinemas.

Then again, filming for “100 Tula Para Kay Stella 2” probably will not begin immediately. That is because its leading love tandem of JC and Bela are already in the thick of things with their current project, also with Viva Films. “On Vodka, Beer and Regrets” does a little role reversal in that Santos is now the musician, who then meets Padilla’s actress weathering the fallout of a showbiz scandal, and the “complicated” relationship they eventually form with each other over the titular alcoholic drinks. This movie is premiering on February 5, but the University of the Philippines Film Institute (UPFI) is holding an advance screening on Friday, January 31.
