Netflix, still somewhat the first name when it comes to online digital media streaming around the world, is being seen as a place for second chances where movies are concerned. Even as the streaming giant is prioritizing the production of original content as major entertainment labels take their media away to their own exclusive digital platforms, smaller companies continue to add to the Netflix library where their films and shows sometimes find enthusiastic audiences. Philippine movie studios are no exception to seeing their productions getting online revivals in popularity. Thus, TBA Studios looks to join the action by sending one of its films to the streamer for premiere next month.

According to GMA News, the love story film “Kung Paano Siya Nawala” from two years ago will be added to the Neflix streaming library for Philippine audiences next month. In a social media post, TBA Productions revealed that their 2018 romantic movie starring JM De Guzman and Rhian Ramos will premiere on the global streaming giant this coming August 13. The film is a comedy-drama about the trials of a love against an uncommon cognitive disorder, with all the tears and gravitas one could expect.

To refresh the minds of those who might have heard of the film years ago, “Kung Paano Siya Nawala” stars Ramos as a free spirit who meets and has a dalliance with a guy (De Guzman) who cannot seem to remember her the next day. This is due to the character’s Prosopagnosia or “face blindness,” which impairs his memorization of faces. While Ramos’ character initially tries to push a relationship after seeing her would-be boyfriend’s condition as a challenge, ultimately real deep feelings develop, which also leads to pain because of that cognitive hurdle. Ramos also has the honor of being an executive producer of the film for TBA Studios.

Said film studio was founded in 2017 as a merger of several independent film production outfits, primarily Tuko Film and Buchi Boy Productions (2014’s “Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo”), plus Jerrold Tarog’s Artikulo Uno Productions (2016’s “Heneral Luna”). “Kung Paano Siya Nawala” was released a year after the TBA Studios merger. Time will tell if it could find a new streaming following the same hype that Viva Films’ “Through Night and Day” got earlier this month.
