For those who are thinking that all Marvel productions that will not be released in theaters in the future are now going to be kept at the exclusive playpen of Disney+…that is not entirely true. That also goes for the assumption that all new non-movie Marvel productions will be hogged by the streaming platform. In fact, an animated all-ages Marvel series is going to premiere next year on the Disney Channel, featuring two the comic-book line’s kid-appeal characters, brainy young Moon Girl and smart prehistoric reptile Devil Dinosaur. The voice cast for that show was just released, with notable names.

Comic Book Resources reports that a primary cast list for “Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur” was recently revealed. The animated series is being executively produced by veteran actor Laurence Fishburne for Disney Channel and will star singer-actress Diamond White as Lunella Lafayette aka Moon Girl, and Fred Tatasciore as her best buddy Devil Dinosaur. They will be joined by “SNL” cast member Sasheer Zamata as Lunella’s Mom Adria, Jermaine Fowler (“Coming 2 America”) as her dad, Alfre Woodard (2019’s “The Lion King”) as Granny Mimi, Gary Anthony Williams as “Pops” her grandfather, and Libe Barer as her friend/manager Casey.

The overall plot of the show follows the techy adventures of whiz kid Lunella, 13 years old, who accidentally creates a time portal that brings a T-Rex from prehistoric times to her home in New York City. Naming her new friend Devil Dinosaur, the self-nicknamed Moon Girl goes with her new partner to work as protectors of the city’s Lower East Side. Laurence Fishburne, who is show-running the series with Helen Sugland, will also voice recurring character The Beyonder, a mysterious cosmic entity that takes interest in the lead duo. It is not known yet if a significant characteristic of Lunella’s comic-book version, being an Inhuman, will reflect on her animated self. The series will premiere 2022 on Disney Channel.
