Responding emergency personnel were able to remove Woods from the vehicle, where it was later revealed that he suffered compound fractures in his legs that required surgery in the hospital. The public said their well-wishes to Tiger, but there had been scant word on his condition since then, until the golf legend himself gave his followers a visual update.

ESPN has it that Tiger Woods assured fans of his improving condition some two months after his car accident by posting a photograph of his recovering self on social media Friday last week. On his official Instaram page dated April 23, Tiger uploaded a picture of himself on crutches and a cast on his right foot and ankle, accompanied by his dog on his backyard practice course at Jupiter, Florida. He also has a big smile on his face, pretty much downplaying how much his injury might be bothering him.

“My course is coming along faster than I am,” Woods wrote on the photo caption. “But it’s nice to have a faithful rehab partner, man’s best friend.” Hearing the facts straight from the man himself is a relief for fans of the 15-time golf major champion, whose last social media update had been in the middle of March, where he reported that he has been discharged after a one-month hospital stay and has returned to his Florida home. The course he mentioned in his backyard was a practice area he had designed and landscaped, consisting of three holes. While still under construction, Tiger quipped that it was closer to finishing than his leg injury healing.

The California accident that landed the 45-year-old Tiger Woods in the hospital and rehab occurred when his Genesis SUV hit a road sign while negotiating a curve, causing it to head to the shoulder of the road, tipping over and skidding to a stop on the driver’s side. A police report released earlier this month by Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva attributed the crash to the SUV’s speed and trouble on Woods’ part while trying to make the turn.
