Since her first TV roles in 2012-13, actress Sanya Lopez has trusted in GMA7 to chart the direction of her career in showbiz. As the years passed, staying solid Kapuso has paid big for her in terms of the projects and roles that have opened up for her. From being a Sangre in the 2016 “Encantadia” reboot, to more recently either a Presidential maid in “First Yaya” or a spirit-warrior in “Agimat ng Agila” opposite veteran actors like Gabby Concepcion and Ramon Revilla Jr., Lopez has gotten a variety of roles under her belt. But after renewing her GMA Artist Center contract, Sanya expresses hope for more “engaging” future roles.
This much was shared by Sanya Lopez according to the Philippine Star, in a recent virtual media call following her decision to remain a Kapuso by contract renewal. The 24-year-old actress remarked that despite the well-received runs of her lead roles in “First Yaya” and “Agimat ng Agila,” she plans to keep going for more off-beat projects and learn further in acting through a sense of humility with herself.
“When blessings are overflowing, you need to remind yourself to remain humble and thankful,” says Sanya in the virtual interview. “You should never let it get to your head. Just be happy…I want to remind myself every day to stay humble and that is where you become loved by people.” Of course, maintaining humility is challenging enough when one recently had top roles in two Kapuso programs that kept one visible in six out of seven evenings of primetime. It is because of these big breaks that Lopez opines that GMA7 puts high value in keeping her on side, and that they have further plans for her future career prospects.
When asked what specific plans the Kapuso network might have, Sanya Lopez hinted at ongoing discussions for a movie, but while it has not been finalized she is up for more roles in romantic comedies. At the same time, the girl who immortalized Yaya Melody the Presidential Nanny also wants character roles with significant substance like a lesbian, citing Rhian Ramos in “The Rich Man’s Daughter” from 2015. But ultimately Lopez assures she is up for any casting offered her, and that she trusts her GMA7 management in that regard.
“Your relationship with your management is like any regular relationship,” notes Sanya regarding talent management. “If I have any concerns, I should raise them first with them. We have to be open to one another.”
